Working with Newham Council, Rhubarb-Rhubarb and Adam Magyar have created a participatory project where residents of the Borough will walk together to create a large scale image to go onto the Blue Fence outside Stratford Station.
The image symbolises the journey made by Newham residents as they near the Olympic Games in 2012, and also represents the journey of the borough, and Stratford in particular, as it is developed and regenerated through new construction and business.
Over a hundred people came along to walk together at the Mayor of Newham's Town Show on Saturday 17th July. We were delighted to be walking in a beautiful Edwardian Garden in Central Park, encouraged by the music from the bandstand and warmed by the curiosity of everyone who visited our tent. As you can see from the images of the day, our set looked like something out of Dr Who, but everyone was so enthusiastic to be part of the project, we were all very inspired by the venue and the participants.
In October 2010 the large scale photograph will go up onto the Blue Fence and remain there until July 2011 - plenty of time to come back and see where you are in the walk, and bring your family and friends.
