The motto of Birmingham is 'Forward'. Perfect for the image Adam has created as part of the national London 2012 Open Weekend - a participatory event throughout the UK, celebrating the cultural side of the Olympic Games. This year the offer to the public was to set a challenge and ours was to "walk for the camera".

On the day we were planning to gather in Centenary Square, to Walk As One in Birmingham, the place was full of cranes lifting a super crane into place for the building of the New Library. The Rep came on board with their stage, which was brilliant for talking to all the participants, as they were seated in the theatre! However, it was a very tight fit to get the groups of people walking without bumping into one another, slowing down too much or not fitting into the corridors. We were all amazed at the absolute buy in of all the participants, who walked four times to get the image right!

Between 24th July and 7th August, more of Adam's images can be seen on Level 3, at The Mailbox, a five minute walk from Centenary Square, in a show called 'Separated By Daily Life'.

As the New Library of Birmingham, designed by Dutch Architects - Mecanoo, emerges to tower over Centenary Square, Adam's image will sit on the enormous hoarding for 2 months from the beginning of August 2010.
